How We Got to Olivskin: The Rhys & Lochlan Story

We didn’t just stumble into the skincare world; we built Olivskin after many failed attempts...

Our journey started at 18, balancing two different degrees, Mechanical Engineering (Lochlan) and Marketing (Rhys), while pulling shifts at Australia’s biggest hardware chain. Stacking shelves by day and talking business ideas by night, we had the hunger to build something of our own.

Over the next few years, we chased that drive through flooring sales (which shut down), car sales (which we absolutely hated), and separate corporate sales jobs where the dream never truly faded.

Eventually, we gave dropshipping a crack, launching three separate online storefronts—and every single one of them failed. With empty pockets and three failed businesses behind us, it would have been easy to call it quits.

Instead, we took the last of what we had left to risk and decided to back ourselves one more time. We combined engineering precision with authentic branding to create something pure, purposeful, and genuinely impactful.

Olivskin was born out of those setbacks, proving that every wrong turn was just paving the way to the right formula.

Our Mission: A Different Kind of Skincare

When we first looked closely at the skincare industry, we were sick of seeing the same old story. Everywhere we turned, brands were pushing ineffective products packed with fillers, charging unreasonable prices, and manufacturing them who knows where. We knew skin deserved better—and so did your wallet.

After diving into the research, we uncovered a clean, powerhouse ingredient hiding right in plain sight: olive oil. Rich in antioxidants and deeply hydrating, its natural benefits were too obvious to ignore. We channeled those pure, rustic properties straight into our first-ever creation: traditional olive oil soap blocks.

We started selling them at local markets around Adelaide, and the face-to-face feedback from real people was incredible. That honest encouragement gave us the confidence to take the next big step.

Instead of pausing there, we partnered directly with local manufacturers and expert cosmetic chemists to back our vision with rigorous science.

Today, Olivskin has grown from those original market soap blocks into a complete, high-performance skincare range. We're proud to still be innovating right here in Australia, developing new, effective products that actually deliver on their promises.
